of: Genesis

It came from the ends of the universe

roared into the atmosphere of a young rock that swirled with an ocean

and buried Itself deep in the core until a billion years later

It leaked out

hurled Itself onto the land It used to look up to, shed Its scales

then tore against the trees until It scarred Itself

& scarred the rocks along with It

Bacteria into Genus into genius

It hid in the first fire They discovered

festered into Fight & Flight

then became angelic in the beasts of the night

It cracked bones & hid in the nails of

Them – rotted Them whole from the inside

until They could make kingdoms of skeletons

thrones They fought over until

They were the next skull to sit on top

It fucked & rampaged

raging into the dawn in the

bras of underage girls

churning in the underbelly of

graffiti and joy rides &

then

we wore It on our smirks when

we sucked the dicks of married men

It cauterized but drenched

when We learned how to kiss

then bred more of Itself

Bacteria into Order into chaos

until we set the altar flowers on fire

in places we used to worship

It was beautiful

It was a gift

but mostly

It was all We had
